I have always loved baking blondies but adding maple syrup and pecans took them to a whole new level of deliciousness that my family can't get enough of.
Ingredients
- Dry Ingredients: 1 1/4 cups (160 g) all-purpose flour, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1/4 tsp salt
- Wet Ingredients: 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter melted and cooled, 1 cup (200 g) light brown sugar packed, 1/3 cup (80 ml) pure maple syrup, 1 large egg, 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- Add-ins: 1 cup (110 g) pecans roughly chopped and lightly toasted
Instructions
- Preheat:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8-inch (20 cm) square baking pan with parchment paper leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a medium bowl whisk together the flour baking powder and salt. Set aside.
- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In a large bowl whisk together the melted butter brown sugar and maple syrup until smooth. Add the egg and vanilla extract mixing until fully incorporated.
- Combine:
- Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined do not overmix.
- Add Pecans:
- Fold in the toasted pecans reserving a few for sprinkling on top.
- Prepare Batter:
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan smoothing the top. Sprinkle reserved pecans over the surface.
- Bake:
- Bake for 23–25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs (not wet batter).
- Cool and Slice:
- Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before lifting out and slicing into 16 squares.
