This recipe has become a weekend favorite in my family because everyone loves dipping the crispy waffle quarters in sweet syrup.
Ingredients
- Waffles: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon baking powder, ½ teaspoon salt, 2 large eggs, 1¾ cups whole milk, ⅓ cup unsalted butter melted, 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- Syrup Dip: ½ cup pure maple syrup, 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- For Serving: Optional fresh berries, whipped cream, powdered sugar
Instructions
- Preheat:
- Preheat your waffle iron according to manufacturer instructions.
- Mix Dry Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Mix Wet Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract until combined.
- Combine:
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combineddo not overmix (some lumps are fine).
- Cook Waffles:
- Lightly grease the waffle iron. Pour batter onto the hot iron (about ½ cup for each waffle depending on your iron). Cook until golden and crisp about 4 5 minutes per batch.
- Cut:
- Remove waffles and cut each round into quarters.
- Prepare Syrup Dip:
- Melt 2 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir in the maple syrup and heat until warm about 2 minutes. Pour into a small serving bowl.
- Serve:
- Arrange waffle quarters on a platter with the syrup dip bowl in the center. Serve with optional berries, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
